Queer Pregnancy Support

Braw Birth offers pregnancy doula packages. The package ensures you get the best support throughout your pregnancy and birth where your wants and preferences are upheld.

Why Queer Pregnancy Support is Needed.

Many Queer people are pigeon-hold into cis and heteronormative systems of maternity care throughout their pregnancy and early parenthood experiences.

You have a right to Queer doula support that;

  • Understands your lived experience.

  • Helps you define and experience your pregnancy and birth on your own terms and in your own way.

  • Provides LGBT-specific antenatal education and birth support.

  • Is there for additional advocacy support if you experience difficulty or barriers when accessing mainstream care.

The package is for any Queer or LGBT+ people looking for support throughout their pregnancy and birth.

You deserve to have pregnancy support where you feel confident, autonomous and assured in your experience.

Your wants, preferences and choices should always be considered and attempted to be upheld and respected.

The package includes;

  • Run bespoke monthly sessions with you before the baby is due to help you feel prepped and prepared. *You get to decide how you would like to use those sessions. They can help you gain more knowledge on your desired topics to feel more confident to make the best decisions for your pregnancy and birth.

  • Another specific session with you to help you create your individualised birth plan as you gather more knowledge, form your choices and create your own goals for your pregnancy and birth. * The birth plan will help you prioritise your own needs and outline your preferences. This then gives clear direction for your wants to anyone responsible for your care throughout your pregnancy and at the birth.

  • Call, text, email and zoom support throughout the process.

  • Appointment debriefing availability to answer any of your questions, give you space to process afterwards and be there to discuss your options with you.

  • Resource any additional research for you to make the best decisions for you and provide emotional support.

  • Be on call for your birth from week 38 of your pregnancy.

  • Present at your birth whether at home or in hospital.

  • Provide one postnatal debrief in the weeks after birth.
